How it works

The command runs on your server, the report is assembled on this page

  1. 01

    Choose the checks

A ready-made set or your own mix of the nine tests. You see the duration before you start.

  2. 02

    Run the command over SSH

Copy the command and run it on your VPS. The session waits 1 hour for it to start.

  3. 03

Frequently asked questions

How do I test a VPS?

Pick a set of tests, click “Generate command” and run it over SSH on your server. Progress shows on this page; at the end you get a score, a PNG report and a link to share. A quick VPS test takes about 2 minutes, a full check 35 to 50 minutes.

Can I check a VPS from another provider?

Yes. The check works on any VPS with SSH access: the command runs on your server and sends the results to this page.

What is censorcheck and how do I check a VPS for blocking?

CensorCheck is the open-source vernette/censorcheck script: it opens predefined lists of websites over HTTP and HTTPS and shows which are available and which are blocked. The check runs it twice: in Geoblock mode for sites and streaming services that restrict access by the IP's country, in DPI mode for sites that are often blocked with DPI. The report shows how many sites opened and the status of each one.

What does ipregion check?

The IP Region test runs the ipregion script (vernette/ipregion): it asks several GeoIP databases and popular services such as YouTube, Netflix, ChatGPT and Spotify which country the server's IPv4 address is in. The report shows each service's answer, so you see where websites think your server is. The IP Quality Check test covers the same IP's reputation: address type, ASN, anti-fraud scores and blacklists.

How do the check sets differ?

Quick covers the CPU, IP region and website reachability, about 2 minutes. Standard adds IP reputation, media services and speed to Russia, about 11 minutes. Full runs all nine tests including Bench.sh and YABS, 35 to 50 minutes. You can change the mix by hand.

How long does a check take?

Quick tests take from 10 seconds to 3 minutes, YABS up to half an hour. You can switch off tests you don't need before starting.

How long do I have to run the command?

A check session stays active for 1 hour. If you don't run the command in that time, start a new check.

Where can I see past checks?

The history of your recent checks is kept in your browser and shown under the form.
